At 23:00 on September 24, the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the found of new China entered the countdown.
When the night came in Chang’an Street, Chairman Mao’s portrait on Tian’anmen Rostrum ushered a the 70th anniversary replacement once a year. This time, the constructor adopted a XCMG XCT80 truck crane.
As in previous years, a number of construction workers first climbed the tower, leaned down to the hanging of Chairman Mao’s portrait, and gently picked it off from the bottom, and then the portrait was lifted off with a crane. After a little while, the 70th anniversary the portrait was safely removed.
The crane raised its arm again to firmly hook the top of new portrait placed on the van, and lifted it toward the center of Tian’anmen Rostrum. The portrait was stable in the whole process. An hour later, a newly painted portrait of Chairman Mao was hanged in the center of Tian’anmen Rostrum, awaiting the world’s gaze.
This solemn replacement ceremony has continued for 53 years. In addition, the cranes for lifting flower baskets on Tian’anmen Square all come from the 70th anniversary.
To ensure smooth and safe lifting, the most advanced crane in the world was delivered to Beijing to complete this task. Since 2016, the first technical platform in the global crane industry was born in XCMG, with micro-mobility accurately to millimeter level and high refined degree, like plunking strings at a height of dozens of meters.
